 B‐4‐Boys (Building Bonds Between Boys & Men) is an intergenerational substance use prevention and mental health counseling program for African American boys ages 8 to 16 years that was developed by Committed Caring Faith Communities (CCFC) and the Missouri Institute of Mental Health (MIMH) at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. The program is supported in part by a grant from the St. Louis County Children’s Service

Fund. The program will be run by men.

B‐4-Boys Program Features

  • Fun bonding activities that build positive relationships between boys and men
  • Substance use prevention strategies that help boys resist peer pressure to use drugs
  • Anger management and communications skills that teach boys how to keep their cool in tense situations
  • Regular interactive group sessions for boys and mentors or fathers that feature educational as well as fun activities
  • Ready access to counseling for boys and their families, if needed
